About the job
AI Assisted Product Development | iWellniss OS
Employer: Eyewellniss LLC
Location: Northern New Jersey. Hybrid preferred; remote candidates considered.
Schedule: Full time preferred. Strong candidates with consistent part time availability are welcome.
Start date: As soon as available
Reports directly to: Jordan Nissinoff, Founder and CEO
Build directly with the founder
We are building iWellniss OS, a software platform supporting healthcare practice operations, beginning with optometry.
Our founder is a practicing optometrist and operator of five practices. You will work directly with him to turn real workflow feedback into working software across scheduling, clinical documentation, billing, contact lens ordering and patient communications.
We are looking for a capable engineer who enjoys hands on implementation, uses AI development tools effectively and follows through. This is an opportunity to contribute immediately to an existing product during an intensive launch period, with the potential to grow into a lasting engineering role.
What you will do
-
Translate founder walkthroughs, screenshots and feedback into clear tasks and completion criteria.
-
Read and modify the existing application code.
-
Reproduce bugs, investigate their causes and implement focused corrections.
-
Use Claude Code, Codex and similar tools while reviewing and taking responsibility for their output.
-
Improve application usability, reliability and performance.
-
Test your changes and demonstrate the affected workflow before presenting it for founder acceptance.
-
Create clear pull requests, respond to review and follow established release procedures.
-
Keep concise records of changes, verification, blockers and next steps.
-
Coordinate with existing engineers without duplicating work or expanding scope unexpectedly.
Depending on your strengths, you may also contribute to AWS infrastructure, integrations, PostgreSQL, database migrations and deployment workflows.
Working directly with the founder
Jordan is closely involved in product development and gives frequent, specific feedback. You should enjoy a collaborative working relationship with clear direction, regular demonstrations and rapid iteration.
We expect you to:
-
Follow agreed priorities and detailed instructions.
-
Ask focused questions when something is unclear.
-
Raise blockers promptly, explaining what you tried and what you need.
-
Communicate progress without repeated follow up.
-
Incorporate feedback without losing track of existing requirements.
-
Flag security, data integrity or technical concerns with a practical recommendation.
-
Finish work with evidence that it functions and a clear handoff.
You will provide a short daily update covering completed work, current work, blockers and the next deliverable.
What we are looking for
-
Strong programming fundamentals and evidence of working software you have built or improved.
-
Ability to navigate an existing codebase and debug unfamiliar problems.
-
Experience with Git, pull requests, APIs, browser developer tools and database queries.
-
Practical experience using AI coding tools and identifying mistakes in their output.
-
Clear communication, attention to detail and reliable follow through.
-
Comfort receiving close direction while exercising sound technical judgment.
-
Care with sensitive information, access permissions and existing user workflows.
Relevant technologies include Vue, JavaScript or TypeScript, C#/.NET, Node.js, PostgreSQL and AWS. You do not need expertise in every technology, but you must be willing and able to learn.
Early career engineers, recent graduates, students with substantial project experience and self taught developers are welcome. Demonstrated ability matters more than a particular degree or employer.
Compensation and work arrangements
Full time base salary: $100,000–$140,000 annually, depending on demonstrated ability and relevant experience.
Part time opportunities: $60/hour, with scope and consistent weekly availability agreed in advance.
Paid practical evaluation: Selected candidates will complete a bounded assignment of approximately 10–15 hours at $60/hour. Payment is provided regardless of the hiring decision.
For the full time role, additional compensation includes:
A $2,500 milestone bonus upon completion of agreed onboarding and delivery goals within the first 30 days.
Bonus criteria will be documented before work begins. Success will be judged on agreed deliverables and quality, rather than simply reaching a launch date.
The initial focus is the launch period. We are seeking a long term working relationship with the right person. Weekly schedules and any additional launch availability will be agreed explicitly.
