About the Role YCharts seeks a data-focused Software Engineer to help maintain and optimize our data pipeline for 7+ million securities. You will work on backend features to ensure data is consistent, reliable, timely, and accurate, with a focus on load management, caching, memory efficiency, and query performance. What You'll Do
- Write code (and unit tests) in Python and Django to implement complex backend features.
- Build/enhance financial data pipelines using Airflow for 7+ million securities.
- Use pandas and asynchronous task tools like Celery to efficiently calculate 4,000+ unique data points per security.
- Profile and optimize database queries; design effective indexes; eliminate N+1s and slow paths under production load.
- Manage database load: read/write patterns, replica strategy, and batching to keep the data tier healthy as volume grows.
