Responsibilities

  • Build and improve services to be scalable and highly reliable.
  • Help deliver and improve engineering systems and practices to operate services in complex cloud environments.
  • Contribute to design and automate service scale features and address customer requirements.
  • Investigate pre-production and production issues, implement fixes, and deploy updates.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation (typically 24/7 for one week every 6–8 weeks) within a secure facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience, with proven coding experience in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Security clearance is required, with additional screening as described below.
  • The role requires meeting Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements and, in some cases, active clearance status.
  • This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • The role includes a Microsoft Cloud background check at hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship verification is required due to citizenship-based restrictions when supporting government customers.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include understanding CI/CD concepts and Git; experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies; debugging across OS, application, and cloud layers; building and supporting large-scale production services with robust logging, monitoring, alerting, and reliability practices; familiarity with Azure DevOps and GitHub tooling; and strong communication and collaboration skills across software engineers, program managers, security researchers, and data scientists.
