About this role

Job title: Software Engineer - Connectivity

We are looking for a Software Engineer in the Connectivity team to help develop Telematics software for the automotive industry. The role focuses on enabling the car to participate in the Internet of Things via Telematics, 5G and V2X, and includes collaborating with OEMs and global teams to ensure successful program execution.

What You'll Do

  • Be a knowledge center of commonly used core software to leverage experience between OEMs/Projects within the Alliance Excellence Team.
  • Collaborate with global teams to analyze, debug, and implement software with customers or Tier-2 partners, patching software and fixing bugs on the spot.
  • Summarize and explain found issues to global teams and customers with fix proposals.
  • Support the creation of software requirements proposals.
  • Track progress of relevant activities (workshops, joint tests) and adjust planning with project milestones.
  • Synchronize planning with overall project schedule and communicate deviations.
  • Support development environment preparation in Japan, including customer engineering sites.
  • Understand internal and external requirements to clearly capture what is needed for the product.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related IT field.
  • At least 3+ years of experience as a software developer with C/C++ knowledge.
  • At least 3+ years of experience working with global teams.
  • Experience in developing embedded applications.
  • Knowledge of inter-process communication, threading, and socket communication.
  • Fluent in Japanese and business-level English.
  • Working knowledge of embedded operating systems.
  • Debugging experience with gdb.

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of TCP/IP protocol internals.
  • Automotive experience.
  • Unified Modeling Language (UML) knowledge.
  • Problem-solving methodologies.
  • Knowledge of process models (e.g., Automotive SPICE, SCRUM, SAFe).
  • Knowledge of secure coding standards.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262).
