About the Role Abbott is seeking a Software Engineer, Cloud to design and build scalable cloud-based SaaS solutions for a medical device platform. You will work with a modern tech stack, leveraging internal and external APIs to process large data volumes and serve users in multiple countries.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement services and components utilizing Go for cloud-based platforms
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate APIs that enable users to share and utilize medical data
- Design and implement high-quality, scalable and maintainable systems with robust, testable code and ensure performance, reliability, and uptime
- Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for Cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
- Implement systemic changes to align existing systems with current architectural goals
- Create diagrams, flowcharts and models that illustrate internal design and workflow of solution components
- Build and manage internal tooling, APIs, and production systems, driving automation across build, release, and configuration processes
- Support company initiatives and comply with regulatory requirements (FDA and other global standards)
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field
- Minimum 6 years of professional software development experience in an Agile environment (or master's degree with 4+ years of related experience)
- Strong computer science fundamentals and software development experience
- Proficiency with Git for source control
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and design of modular, unit-testable code
- Understanding of asynchronous messaging and backend processing jobs
- Understanding of Docker containers and container orchestration (Docker Swarm, ECS, Kubernetes)
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Experience working in an Agile environment
PREFERRED
- Experience with open-source software development and system engineering
- Comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team
- Linux practical knowledge
- Practical experience with RESTful APIs and microservices
- Experience contributing to scalable architecture/design of highly available systems
- Understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Experience with relational datastores (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay: $78,000.00 – $156,000.00 per year
