Job title: Software Engineer - Backend
About the Role Databricks is seeking a backend-focused Software Engineer to help build and scale the Databricks platform. You will work with a team to deliver reliable, high-performance services and client libraries that enable large-scale data storage, processing, and usage visibility across cloud backends.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and operate backend services at scale.
- Build reliable, scalable services using languages such as Java, Scala, and C++, and work with data pipelines and technologies like Spark and Kubernetes.
- Deliver client libraries and services for storing and accessing data on cloud storage backends (e.g., AWS S3, Azure Blob Store).
- Help power pricing infrastructure that serves millions of cluster-hours per day and develop features to help customers view and control platform usage.
- Address reliability, performance, monitoring, and scale challenges in distributed systems.
What We're Looking For
- BS (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
- 2+ years of production-level experience in Java, Scala, C++, or a similar language.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
