Job title: Software Developer - Test Automation

About the Role Join Scotiabank's Scotia Digital Platform Migration team as a Software Developer - Test Automation. You will work with multiple scrum teams to drive quality, contribute to in-house automation frameworks for UI, Microservices and Performance testing, and enable continuous testing in a DevOps environment.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop and maintain a modular, extensible, and reusable test automation framework to enable continuous testing in a DevOps environment.
• Develop code to automate unit and integration testing of microservices (REST APIs) and ensure adequate test coverage of the application code.
• Collaborate with development engineers during story/task breakdown to develop test approaches that cover functional and performance characteristics.
• Build, maintain and improve the existing automation framework, test harness, and processes.
• Become a SME on usage of the entire application suite, processes, workflows, etc.
• Work with Engineering leadership to improve the testing process.
• Apply enterprise software design principles – architecture, design patterns, OOP; be comfortable working in a self-guided manner with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage your own time efficiently.

What We're Looking For

• 1+ years of experience in Java/J2EE.
• 2+ years of Spring Boot experience.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented software development best practices.
• 4+ years of experience developing Unit Tests and Integration Tests using JUnit, TestNG, and RestAssured.
• Experience working in a DevOps environment; experience with Java build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Familiarity with OpenAPI Specification (OAS)/Swagger, YAML, JSON.
• Knowledge/experience with Java ORM frameworks such as Hibernate, Spring DAO; exposure to RDBMS such as Oracle or DB2; SQL queries.
• Nice to have: experience building, integrating and deploying web services (REST/SOAP/JSON/XML); AI/ML exposure; cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) especially cloud-native testing tools, API Gateways, or container-based deployments; Docker.

Nice to Have

• AI/ML exposure (e.g., using ML models for test optimization, anomaly detection, or data-driven testing).
• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and container-based deployments; API Gateways.
• Hands-on experience with Docker or other containerization.
