Job title: Software Designer

About the Role Aix-en-Provence site of Alstom Digital & Integrated Systems develops urban signaling solutions (CBTC Urbains OCTYS, Urbalis Fluence). As a Software Designer you will contribute to the design and implementation of embedded software for railway signaling systems, working within a V-model process compliant with CENELEC 50128/50716 and in a context that emphasizes safety, testability and maintainability. This role sits at the intersection of innovation, software engineering and signaling expertise to support a smarter, greener mobility.

What You'll Do

  • Develop features in the software V-cycle according to the CENELEC 50128/50716 process.
  • Analyze internal client needs to elaborate the software specification, considering platform, safety level, testability, resources and process constraints.
  • Implement in a Model-Based Design approach, accounting for real-time embedded architecture, performance, safety, quality, cost, testability and maintainability.
  • Perform functional tests and contribute to continuous improvement activities.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering or equivalent; preferably initial experience in embedded real-time and safety-critical contexts.
  • Embedded programming skills; ideally with applications in railway signaling and compliance with CENELEC 50128/50716.
  • Experience or interest in functional programming or dataflow programming.
  • Interest in rail transport and motivation to innovate in an international environment.
  • Strong technical sense, abstraction ability, rigor, autonomy, operational efficiency, teamwork, interpersonal skills and initiative.
  • English proficiency is essential.
  • Knowledge of tools, languages or technologies such as Git/Gitlab, Wireshark, Ada, C, Rational Team Concert, XML is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with CBTC/urban signaling projects, Model-Based Design, or safety-critical development methods.
  • Familiarity with CBTC, real-time operating systems, or safety case development.
  • Additional programming knowledge (Ada, C) and toolchains is advantageous.
