Software Designer

About the Role Joining Alstom in Bangalore as a full-time Software Designer, you’ll design and code software modules for embedded systems in rail applications, ensuring detailed design, implementation, and quality. You’ll collaborate with Software Architects, Hardware Designers, and V&V teams to deliver software components and contribute to reusable solutions and technology standardization. What You'll Do

• Contribute to the elaboration of software specifications and architecture in collaboration with the Software Architect
• Perform detailed design and coding of software modules
• Set up the software development toolchain
• Prepare and perform software module tests and verifications
• Manage software configuration according to the product Configuration Management Plan
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as RAMS and V&V
• Apply processes and standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Stay updated on technological advancements through ongoing learning What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Engineering – IT, Computer Science, ECE, EEE, or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in designing software modules for complex embedded systems
• Proficiency in programming languages like C and scripting languages such as Python
• Experience with multi-core/multi-threaded programming
• Familiarity with operating systems like Linux, RTOS, or VxWorks
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, CIP, TRDP, and MVB
• Strong understanding of embedded concepts like multi-threading and IPC
• Problem-solving and debugging skills to address complex system challenges
• Experience in low-level embedded software design
• Exposure to security principles and secure network communications (desirable)
