Job title: Software Data Engineer

About the Role

The Software Data Engineer will contribute to Pirelli Digital Center projects, building data ingestion pipelines via Kafka and integrating manufacturing systems across plants. As part of the AMS team, you’ll address user-reported issues and enhancement requests related to ingestion, with a focus on big data solutions in a cloud environment and data-driven transformation.

What You'll Do

  • Develop data ingestion processes via Kafka and integrate plant systems into the data platform
  • Develop pipelines for loading factory systems into the data platform and perform performance tuning
  • Write PL/SQL code and draft/maintain technical documentation for ETL implementations
  • Maintain and intervene on existing ETL workflows; interface with business sectors to gather requirements
  • Set up alerting/monitoring with CloudWatch and Python; conduct tests and deployments in AWS; hand over to support team

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in technical or scientific disciplines
  • Experience handling operational tickets with ability to analyze, prioritize, and resolve requests in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • In-depth SQL knowledge including performance analysis and query optimization
  • Experience managing Aurora, RDS, and PostgreSQL databases in data loading pipelines
  • Experience in cloud environments, preferably AWS (MSK, EMR, Aurora, DMS, Lambda)
  • Programming skills in Python, Node.js, Java, and Angular
  • Experience designing, developing, and managing scalable ETL pipelines
  • Knowledge of data integration and streaming tools, with at least two technologies such as Spark and Kafka
  • Familiarity with Big Data architectures (Hadoop, Flink)
  • Curiosity, willingness to learn; strong communication, detail orientation, and good organizational/time-management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with Milan team to share requirements, design, and model loading chains

Compensation & Benefits

  • The employment contract will be regulated by Gomma Plastica National Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • The gross annual base salary offered will be no less than €29,500 (salary currency shown as USD in system; base amount to be interpreted in EUR)
  • The compensation package includes a variable component and a competitive welfare/benefits offer
