Software Application Engineer

About the Role As a Senior Software Application Engineer within the IT department at Tower Semiconductor, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of robust in-house systems tailored for semiconductor manufacturing. You will serve as a technical pillar, responding to complex operations and supply chain needs by providing innovative, scalable solutions that improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

What You'll Do

• Lead the full software development lifecycle from conception/architecture to delivery and maintenance, ensuring reliable, efficient, and maintainable systems.
• Develop high-performance backend applications in Java and modern, responsive user interfaces using Angular or React.
• Design and deploy distributed, scalable systems using AWS cloud infrastructure and modern DevOps practices to automate builds and improve operational efficiency.
• Analyze manufacturing data to develop analytics solutions and data pipelines supporting the user community.
• Extend manufacturing capabilities to the factory floor by developing mobile applications.
• Integrate advanced machine learning and AI solutions into manufacturing workflows for predictive maintenance and automated quality control.
• Document and communicate complex solutions using flowcharts, diagrams, layouts, and well-commented code.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java or .NET, Object-Oriented Design, and modern JavaScript frameworks (Angular/React).
• Linux environments and shell scripting; familiarity with VMS is an advantage.
• Prior experience with MES as a system administrator or in implementation and support roles.
• Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitHub), and integrating AI/ML models into production software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with VMS (advantage).
• Experience developing mobile applications for the factory floor.
• Exposure to additional manufacturing data sources and analytics tools.
