Job Summary

• We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Worker responsible for the overall psychosocial welfare, legal protection, and case management of all children in the care of the Home.
• The role ensures compliance with Lagos State Ministry of Youth & Social Development (MYSD) regulations, the Child Rights Act, and global best practices in child safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and family reintegration.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Child Welfare:

• Conduct comprehensive social investigations, family tracing, home assessments and risk assessments for all admitted children.
• Develop and implement Individual Care Plans (ICPs) and ensure proper follow-up of all social care needs for heritage children.
• Supervise and ensure accurate, confidential, and up-to-date data collection, case files, and digital records in line with data protection.
• Monitor children closely including health, nutrition (balanced diet), mental health, emotional well-being, education and social development.
• Ensure effective drug administration and proper use of medical books in collaboration with caregivers and health staff.

Legal & Statutory Liaison:

• Liaise with MYSD, Family Courts, Juvenile Welfare Centres, NAPTIP, Police, and other relevant government agencies.
• Represent the Home at court proceedings, prepare legal reports, affidavits and generate timely statutory reports.
• Make evidence-based recommendations to management on the best course of action for each child - reunification, foster care, adoption, or long-term care.

Safeguarding & Team Supervision:

• Serve as Child Safeguarding Focal Point - enforce Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy (zero tolerance for abuse).
• Supervise, train and mentor caregivers and domestic staff on child rights, positive discipline, nutrition, hygiene and trauma-informed care.
• Coordinate with schools, hospitals, psychologists and counsellors for holistic support.
• Attend stakeholder meetings, case conferences and keep accurate minutes and records.

Reporting & Administration:

• Prepare weekly and monthly reports to management on status, court updates, and welfare of children.

• Manage the child welfare database and ensure all files are audit-ready for MYSD inspections.

• Required

• A degree in Social Works, previous experience in Management of vulnerable children with an in-depth of knowledge of child Rights Act.

• Must be a registered member of Nigeria Association of Social Workers (NASW) - mandatory.

• Minimum of 3 years proven experience as a Social Worker in an NGO, orphanage, or child protection setting.

Salary

N250,000 / month.
