About the Role Senior Plant Operator (Chemistry) will operate automatic and manual control of Eskom's water treatment plant (WTP) systems, including vacuum concentrator, condensate polishing plant (CCP), cooling water (CW), station drains, effluent dams, ammonia, desalination, flue gas desulphurization, wastewater treatment and sewage plants. Based at Witbank at the Duvha Power Station, this role ensures safe, compliant operation of water treatment processes. What You'll Do
- Operate water treatment plant systems automatically and manually.
- Monitor process parameters, equipment condition, and respond to alarms and abnormal conditions.
- Maintain records, perform basic chemical analysis, and report deviations.
- Ensure compliance with Plant Safety Regulations (PSR) and operating regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS) authorisation where applicable; apply training when required.
- Support operation of related systems: vacuum concentrator, CCP, cooling water, station drains, effluent dams, ammonia, desalination, FGD, wastewater and sewage plants.
- Adhere to health and safety practices; assist with first aid and emergency responses as trained; participate in safety initiatives and basic housekeeping.
- Drive light vehicle if required and participate in safety investigations. What We're Looking For
- Qualification: Grade 12/NCV4/NSC3/N3 with Maths, Science and Languages, or Occupational Certificate Industrial Water Plant Operator; Further Education and Training Certificate Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Control; Supervision/Engineering Studies with Chemistry and Chemical Plant Operation at NQF4 with 120 credits.
- Related minimum experience: 2 years in chemical plant operations within an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of water treatment plant operations, chemical handling, and relevant safety regulations.
- Computer literacy, good communication, assessment and problem solving, analytical skills, and interpersonal abilities.
- Valid light vehicle driver's license. Nice to Have
