POSITION SUMMARY:

The SMT Engineer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and optimizing SMT processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality for both new and existing products. This role ensures production lines operate at peak performance and process standards are maintained. Additional related duties may be assigned.

Salary

115,000 to 140,000

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops and optimizes production and manufacturing processes to meet output, quality, and cost targets.
• Analyzes assembly, fabrication, machining, and other workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement improvements.
• Maximizes efficiency through equipment layout, workflow design, assembly methods, and workforce utilization.
• Recommends process, equipment, and method improvements to enhance resource utilization, including labor, energy, and materials.
• Creates process documentation, perform failure analysis with corrective/preventive actions, train staff, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

GUIDELINES (ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS):

• Thorough understanding of SMT lead-free process and production materials.
• Knowledge of SMT programming, solder paste printing, SPI, reflow, AOI, X-ray inspection and depanelization.
• Ability to set up and optimize SMT process parameters.
• Familiar with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610, SPC ISO9001 environment.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write procedures and work instructions.
• Skilled in interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and internal/external clients.
• Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate staff and clients in various time zones.
• Must be available for occasional domestic and international business travel.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering field with 3–7 years of SMT manufacturing/process experience; or an associate degree with 5+ years of SMT/process experience.
