Job Summary

Join a growing, innovative medical device manufacturer as a Wire Technician I, where you'll work hands-on with cutting-edge automated production equipment, robotics, laser welding, PCB testing, and advanced assembly technologies. This role is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who enjoy troubleshooting, machine maintenance, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. You'll play a key role in producing life-changing healthcare products while gaining cross-functional training, exposure to advanced manufacturing processes, and opportunities to contribute to new product launches, process improvements, and operational excellence.

Position Overview

The SMA Wire Technician operates detail-sensitive machines making small parts and works with their hands on small, detailed projects.

This is a weekend day shift. Working hours are 6:00 am - 6:30 pm, Friday - Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment setup, operation, repair, and basic daily/weekly preventative maintenance tasks to meet all standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

• Maintain machine raw material feeds, perform any fault clearing and clear stoppages on automated equipment.

• Utilize human machine interfaces (HMIs) to identify and correct shifts in process control.

• Ensure adequate raw material is prepared correctly and jobs are on schedule

• Able to utilize computer systems to support material inventory and quality management processes.

• Perform routine cleaning/inspection/lubrication of machinery.

• Able to use measuring tools to assess process stability and product quality

• Works from specifications, work orders, and general instructions from Supervisor.

• Safely follow standard operating procedures including but not limited to material handling, record keeping, packaging, and shipment preparation.

• Identify and report discrepancies in quality, safety and process execution

• Ensure adherence to SOPs and regulatory standards (FDA 21CFR, ISO 13495, cGMP)

• Able to work in small groups and cross functional teams to troubleshoot issues, identify and implement collective corrective actions.

• Maintain a clean work environment suitable for medical device manufacturing.

• Performs other duties as required.

• Required Skills and Competencies

• Self-starter capable of dealing with a variety of tasks in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

• Must be proficient in English language to be able to read documentation, communicate, and write.

• Ideal candidate will have keen eye for quality, is dependable, and will work collaboratively within a team, and possess a positive attitude.

• Mechanical Aptitude – Knowledge of and experience with automated machines and tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.

• Production & Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, measurement instruments, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for the manufacture and distribution of goods.

• Mathematics – Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra and/or geometry.

• Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma/GED

• Experience in manufacturing

• Experience with assembling, debugging, and optimizing discrete component assembly processes

• Physical Requirements

• Required to stand for at least 75% of working time per shift, with walking at least 50% of working time per shift.

• Required to reach above shoulder frequently and below waist occasionally.

• Required to push and pull.

• Ability to lift up to 20lbs occasionally, 5-10lbs frequently.

• The position is working on-site at our Acton, MA location.

• NOTE: This position requires on-site working (requires on-site office/plant/lab work).

• For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $18.16 - $27.24

• This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
