About the Role
Cape Fox, subsidiary Mountain Point, is seeking a qualified Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)/Site Safety Manager to develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans, enforce policies, assess risk, and ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA requirements for construction projects in the Southern United States.
The SSHO/Site Safety Manager will lead the Contractor Health and Safety Program, support SOP development, supervise safety subcontractors and specialists, and foster a Zero accidents safety culture across projects. This position is contingent upon award and will require on-site presence at various construction sites with travel within the region.
What You'll Do

Ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project.

Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to OSHA guidelines and EM385-1-1.

Be on the work site at all times to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and Government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan.

Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log including area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections; attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily production report.

Conduct mishap investigations and complete required accident reports; report mishaps and near misses.

Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors and make available to the Contracting Officer upon request; post and maintain the Form 300A on the site Safety Bulletin Board.

Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site.

Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.

Review the APP and AHAs for EM 385-1-1 compliance, and approve, sign, implement and enforce them.

Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.

Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.

Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Maintain a weekly list of high hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC and Safety Meetings.

Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors.

What We're Looking For

Minimum qualifications as set forth in EM 385-1-1 for SSHO/Site Safety Manager.

Experience developing and implementing safety programs, SOPs, deliverables, and embedding a safety culture.

Ability to oversee subcontractors and safety specialists in support of project managers and site superintendents.

Experience conducting training, incident investigations, and providing recommendations for improvement.

Proficiency in maintaining safety and training records for OSHA compliance.

Willingness to work on-site across multiple construction projects in the region and travel as needed; ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain professionalism under pressure.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $95,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience and skills.
