Purpose

• To ensure the effective implementation and compliance of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and regulations across the plant, preventing workplace injuries and promoting a safe and healthy working environment.

The Job

• Driving the implementation of Critical to Safety (CSP) and Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programmes to promote a strong safety culture across the site.
• Identifying workplace hazards and risks and implementing appropriate control measures to prevent accidents and incidents.
• Participating in HSE audits and ensuring timely closure of all identified audit gaps.
• Reviewing and periodically testing site emergency response plans to ensure operational effectiveness.
• Conducting risk assessments and developing Safe Systems of Work (SSW) for technical and hazardous activities.
• Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Issuing Permit-to-Work (PTW) approvals for non-routine and hazardous tasks carried out by employees and contractors.
• Monitoring the effectiveness of Integrated Pest Management programmes to protect products from infestation and contamination.
• Conducting regular hygiene and housekeeping inspections to maintain high plant sanitation standards.

Qualification and Experience

• OND in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Must have 1–2 years' cognate experience in an HSE role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

The Person Must

• Possess strong knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrate excellent hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation skills.
• Have the ability to influence safe behaviours and drive compliance across all levels of the organisation.
• Possess strong presentation, communication, and training facilitation skills.
