About the Role Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a Should Cost Engineer / Die Casting, Stamping, Heath Metal to join our team in a highly collaborative and supportive environment. This role will be responsible for should cost model development and enhancement, detailed cost breakdown reports and VAVE project implementation. The candidate will act as SME for all the manufacturing processes required based on the type of components, and will be a trusted source for component cost and manufacturing process assessment.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and enhance should cost models and cost breakdown reports; lead VAVE projects.
  • Act as SME for manufacturing processes across die casting, stamping and related metal fabrication.
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in value engineering tools and cost management software, including aPriori; produce accurate should cost for assemblies and components.
  • Generate, update and calibrate should cost models based on manufacturing processes and benchmarking data.
  • Support supplier negotiations and key negotiation activities; align with sourcing, design engineering, manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Address product cost-out and cost mitigation opportunities during NPI and product development; perform feasibility studies and technical analyses.
  • Report project status, needs and roadblocks to business leaders; monitor impact of global commodities on costs.
  • Create scorecards and dashboards from large, changing datasets using Excel, Tableau and Power BI; collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure correct assumptions.

What We're Looking For

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or similar; M.S. in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in design engineering, production, operations or manufacturing.
  • 3+ years of experience with cost model software, specifically aPriori; experience creating detailed cost models for various manufacturing processes.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, forging, castings, plastic injection, sheet metal, aluminum extrusion, packaging, assembly.
  • Strong understanding of component cost structure and finance concepts: labor rates, machine rates, overheads, rejection %, SG&A and profit.
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in MS Excel; experience with Tableau or Power BI; able to create scorecards and dashboards from large datasets.
