About the Role The Shop Technician Level 1 will evaluate, repair, and test submersible wastewater pumps in a shop environment, performing both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting with product-specific training provided. This entry-level role offers hands-on development and strong growth potential within Xylem's electromechanical systems in the water technology space. What You'll Do
- Evaluate, repair, and test submersible wastewater pumps
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
- Operate shop equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.)
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Accurately document work in the work-order system
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Work both independently and as part of a team
- Support a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement What We're Looking For
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical training (electromechanical or related) preferred but not required
- Experience: 0–2 years of technical or hands-on experience; open to recent graduates or early-career candidates
- Skills: Basic to intermediate electrical and mechanical aptitude; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to read and understand technical information; comfortable using computers, tablets, and basic software tools
- Work Environment: Industrial shop setting requiring PPE (including hard hats); exposure to noise, machinery, and occasional hazardous materials
- Physical: Standing and lifting up to 50 lbs; overtime and some travel may be required Nice to Have
