About the Role The Shop Assistant / Cashier position with Clicks Group focuses on delivering excellent customer service, accurate point-of-sale transactions, and supporting merchandising to keep shelves stocked and visually appealing. The role contributes to a positive shopping experience by providing friendly, professional service and dependable store operations.
What You'll Do
- Efficiently execute all operational activities at the point of sale in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain high accuracy when scanning merchandise and collecting payment, including actioning clubcard rewards.
- Ensure the safe handling of cash at all times.
- Promote Clicks' clubcard and enroll new clubcard members to achieve participation targets.
- Make customers aware of promotions to positively affect sales and to ensure customers "feel good and pay less".
- Deliver superior customer service by acting as a brand ambassador, being visible and offering a friendly and professional service.
- Efficiently execute and maintain all merchandising and general housekeeping duties according to store and visual merchandise standards.
- Stay updated on products, ranges, promotions and events to provide accurate information to customers at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Essential: Grade 12.
- Desirable: Maths 50% and English 50% at Grade 12 level.
- Desirable / Advantageous: Experience in a customer-facing role within a retail/FMCG store operations environment.
- Knowledge, Skills and Competencies: Basic maths; retail/FMCG background with understanding of merchandising and promotions; knowledge of stock management procedures; customer service excellence; planning and organising; problem-solving; strong customer orientation; good communication; computer literacy; numeracy; relating and networking; following instructions and procedures; delivering results and meeting customer expectations; working with people; persuading and influencing; coping with pressures and setbacks.
