Job title: Shipping Coordinator
About the Role Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Shipping Coordinator is responsible for efficiently managing the dispatching process and maintaining seamless communication with Truck Drivers, including South Holland's drivers and third-party carriers. This role ensures we meet customers' pickup and delivery requirements and supports overall customer satisfaction and service excellence.
What You'll Do
- Manage communications and dispatching to coordinate shipments with drivers and carriers
- Oversee driver dispatching, pickup, and delivery scheduling
- Maintain telephone and general administrative tasks for the shipping function
- Prepare documentation: Packing Slips, Bills of Lading, and tags
- Track shipments using tracking systems; proactively monitor status
- Handle claims management and order management; process new orders
- Create customer and material numbers; track Purchase Orders
- Administrative tasks including file management and invoice setup
- Procure and maintain office supplies; assist with credit checks as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal/external stakeholders
- Utilize ERP systems (SAP or equivalent) to manage shipping processes
What We're Looking For
- Education: High school diploma required; associate degree in business or related discipline preferred
- Experience: At least 2 years in a manufacturing office environment focusing on shipping logistics and standard office practices
- Skills: Strong communication, prioritization, and ability to manage high-volume workloads accurately and on time
- Knowledge: Understanding of shipping processes, compliance with regulations and company policies, ability to follow protocol
- Technical: Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP or equivalent preferred
- Aptitude: Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities; strong customer service orientation

Nice to Have
- Associate degree in business or related discipline (preferred)
- Experience with third-party carriers and complex multi-carrier shipping coordination
