Job Overview

The Shipping Carpenter Loader packages, skids, identifies, stages, and loads Roots Blower products, parts, materials, and other shipment items, including export shipments. This role works closely with the Painter Chipper to prepare finished products for safe, accurate, and timely shipment. Collective Bargaining Agreement language applies to this position.

Responsibilities

• Package or skid units, parts, materials, and other shipment items, including export shipments, and prepare parcel or express shipments in appropriate containers.
• Load trucks for shipment, unload shipping supplies, and move or position materials using gas- or battery-powered equipment or handcarts.
• Prepare packing lists, request stock for repair and similar orders, verify serial numbers, and complete required Production, Quality, and EHS documentation.
• Apply product identification, stencils, and shipping markings, and coordinate shipment requests with the Materials and Order Entry teams.
• Perform required quality checks and minor product corrections, including paint touch-up, bolt tightening, rust removal, plate changes, oil draining, part cleaning, deburring, masking, and paint-line loading or unloading.
• Stock completed units in storage and retrieve units for shipment as required.
• Operate pendant- or radio-controlled cranes, determine appropriate rigging, and assist with lifts based on the size and shape of the load.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and follow all plant rules and safe work practices.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and remain productive without continuous direction.
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation to the Connersville facility.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Flexibility to work first or second shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and safely perform the physical duties of the role.
• Commitment to following plant rules, safe work practices, quality standards, and required procedures.

Preferences

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous construction, industrial painting, surface preparation, or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required; training is provided.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

• This position is fully onsite at the Roots Blower facility in Connersville, Indiana.
• Training begins on first shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Ongoing assignment may be first or second shift, 3:30 p.m. to midnight, based on seniority and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Weekday and weekend overtime opportunities may be available.
