About this role
About the ICRC
Since 1863, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has worked to preserve human dignity and relieve suffering caused by war and armed violence.
In collaboration with our Red Cross and Red Crescent partners around the world, we do everything we can to deliver life-saving aid, reconnect families and locate missing people - helping those who need it most, regardless of who they are and what side of the front line they are on.
We engage with authorities and armed forces on all sides, often confidentially, pressing for access to detainees to improve their living conditions and urging compliance with international humanitarian law to protect non-combatants, including from digital threats.
Purpose of the Role
The ServiceNow Platform Architect is the end-to-end technical and architectural authority for the ServiceNow platform across the organization. The role holder defines the platform’s target architecture, hosting strategy and technical roadmap, and remains hands-on in design and development to ensure that what is built matches what is designed.

- Security, Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with security policies and data protection requirements. Achieve this through access controls, encryption, privileged access management, vulnerability remediation, patching and audit traceability.
- Upgrades and Lifecycle Management: Lead platform upgrade planning, impact analysis, regression testing and plugin lifecycle management to maintain compatibility, stability and vendor support.
- Operations and Service Reliability: Oversee platform health, monitoring, performance, licensing, incident and problem management, root cause analysis and continuous improvement. Coordinate with ServiceNow Support and third-party providers.
- Operational Readiness and Governance: Define go-live readiness criteria, SLAs, KPIs, alerting, escalation procedures, support models, operational handovers and runbook standards.
- Architecture Standards and Reviews: Establish and enforce enterprise-wide architectural principles, technical standards and integration policies. Participate in Architecture Review Boards to validate designs and major changes.
- Documentation and Knowledge Management: Maintain architecture decisions, technical specifications, interface control documents, diagrams, operational procedures, support models and governance artefacts, and review them regularly.
