Job Description:
Meaningful Work and Personal Impact:
-
Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a ServiceNow Engineer - Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) supporting the USCENTCOM Information Technology Services (CITS) Program in support of the USCENTCOM J6 in Tampa, FL. At GDIT, people are our differentiators. As a ServiceNow Engineer - SPM, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter.
-
The ServiceNow Engineer - SPM is a mid-level technical role responsible for the configuration, implementation, enhancement, and sustainment of the Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) module within a complex enterprise ServiceNow environment. This role requires hands-on experience with SPM/PPM capabilities - including Demand, Project, Resource, and Financial Management - along with solid working knowledge of core ServiceNow platform development. The ideal candidate will bring practical technical skill, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable SPM capabilities that support portfolio visibility and mission decision-making.
-
This position requires an engineer who is directly involved in day-to-day technical execution of the SPM module - building and refining workflows, forms, and reporting - while coordinating with the broader ServiceNow engineering team on platform standards and integration points.
-
A core focus of this role is disciplined engineering judgment around customization. The candidate will be expected to evaluate existing and proposed SPM customizations against out-of-box ServiceNow functionality, favoring native configuration where feasible to reduce technical debt and long-term operations and maintenance burden.
-
How a ServiceNow Engineer - SPM will Make an Impact
-
Configure, implement, enhance, and sustain the ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) module, including Demand, Project, Resource, and Financial/Budget Management capabilities
-
Serve as the primary hands-on technical resource for SPM, working closely with Business Analysts and program stakeholders to translate portfolio and project management requirements into platform capabilities
-
Evaluate existing SPM customizations against out-of-box ServiceNow functionality, favoring native configuration to reduce technical debt and upgrade risk
-
Develop and support workflows, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, forms, and reporting within the SPM application suite
-
Build and maintain integrations between SPM and other ServiceNow modules (ITSM, CMDB/ITOM) using REST and SOAP
-
Coordinate with the ServiceNow engineering team on platform-wide standards, ensuring SPM work aligns with broader engineering and customization discipline
-
Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and reports to support portfolio visibility, resource allocation, and program decision-making
-
Support patching, upgrades, and version migrations of ServiceNow infrastructure, including pre-upgrade testing and post-upgrade validation of SPM and related capabilities
-
Assist with troubleshooting of underlying platform infrastructure issues - performance, connectivity, and instance health - in coordination with the broader ServiceNow engineering and infrastructure teams
-
Troubleshoot application-level SPM issues, maintain security controls, and produce technical documentation for the module
-
What You'll Need to Succeed
Education
- Bachelor's degree with focus in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
Required Experience:
- 5-8 years of hands-on ServiceNow engineering, configuration, and implementation experience

- Ability to develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and reports to support portfolio and resource visibility
- Working knowledge of core ITSM capabilities (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) sufficient to coordinate SPM work with the broader platform

- Working knowledge of ServiceNow server infrastructure, including experience supporting or assisting with patching, upgrades, and version migrations
- Ability to troubleshoot platform infrastructure issues (performance, connectivity, instance health) and coordinate resolution with infrastructure/engineering teams
