About the Role Johnson Controls seeks a Service Technician to diagnose, retrofit, and maintain fire detection and extinguishing systems onboard ships. The role focuses on FDAS, AFDS, and various fire suppression technologies, with on-site work across Indian ports.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and rectify defects in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) and control panels onboard ships.
- Execute retrofit and commissioning activities for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
- Perform annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems.
- Troubleshoot software issues within control panels, including program upload/download.
- Interpret manuals, P&ID diagrams, and electrical drawings for troubleshooting.
- Apply control philosophy knowledge to implement retrofit solutions.
- Analyze onboard logbook data to identify and resolve system defects.
- Ensure compliance with marine safety standards and operational excellence.
- Willingness to travel across Indian ports.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering.
- 5–7 years of hands-on service experience.
- Expertise in servicing Addressable Fire Detection Systems and Fire Extinguishing Systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Willingness to travel across Indian ports.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of conventional/addressable fire detection systems.
- Experience with naval and marine ship systems.
