About the Role Service Technician responsible for diagnosing and rectifying defects in onboard Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) and control panels, performing retrofit, commissioning and AMC activities for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems, and ensuring maritime safety compliance.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and rectify defects in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) and control panels onboard ships.
- Execute retrofit and commissioning activities for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
- Perform annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems.
- Troubleshoot software issues within control panels, including program upload/download.
- Interpret manuals, P&ID diagrams, and electrical drawings for troubleshooting.
- Apply control philosophy knowledge to implement retrofit solutions.
- Analyze onboard logbook data to identify and resolve system defects.
- Ensure compliance with marine safety standards and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience: 5–7 years of hands-on service experience.
- Required Expertise: servicing Addressable Fire Detection Systems and Fire Extinguishing Systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Willingness to travel across Indian ports.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of conventional/addressable fire detection systems.
- Experience with naval and marine ship systems.
