About the Role Johnson Controls is seeking a Service Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, retrofit, and commission Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) and fire extinguishing systems on board ships. The role involves hands-on service, AMC activities, and software troubleshooting to ensure marine safety compliance and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and rectify defects in FDAS and control panels on ships.
- Execute retrofit and commissioning activities for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
- Perform annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for AFDS and extinguishing systems.
- Troubleshoot software issues within control panels, including program upload/download.
- Interpret manuals, P&ID diagrams, and electrical drawings for troubleshooting.
- Apply control philosophy knowledge to retrofit solutions.
- Analyze onboard logbook data to identify and resolve system defects.
- Ensure compliance with marine safety standards and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering.
- Experience: 5–7 years of hands-on service experience (Required).
- Expertise in servicing Addressable Fire Detection Systems and Fire Extinguishing Systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
- Willingness to travel across Indian ports.
- Preferred: Knowledge of conventional/addressable fire detection systems.
- Preferred: Experience with naval and marine ship systems.
