About the Role The Service Technical Training Instructor works under the Training Center Manager to improve Kia dealership technician vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First-Time performance through effective delivery of performance-based technical training courses. Training is delivered in Kia training centers or via distance learning. What You'll Do
- Facilitate performance-based technical training courses to Kia dealership technicians to improve vehicle repair skills and Fixed Right First-Time performance.
- Monitor all classes to ensure safe work practices and proper procedures; administer the associated class participant enrollment processes and course completion records.
- Prepare the training center, vehicles, and tools/equipment prior to course delivery and return the learning environment to its original state; manage the coordination, administration, and delivery of distance learning.
- Maintain the inventory, control, usage, and maintenance of all training center resources including training vehicles, special service and hand tools, and other vehicle service and repair equipment; ensure training center meets safety, condition, and maintenance standards.
- Participate in the development of technical training curriculum as a subject matter expert; review draft materials, assist in validation of content, ensure technical accuracy, and participate in pilot and Train-The-Trainer sessions.
- Continuously improve automotive technical and facilitation skills to ensure delivery quality and Kia University standards.
- Personally performed duties include facilitating performance-based training courses, conducting training at centers or via distance learning, and performing other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Automotive Technology degree preferred.
- Must have a strong working knowledge and experience with the delivery of performance-based technical training curriculum; working knowledge of dealership service operations with technician work experience preferred.
- 5+ years teaching experience at the high school, college, adult education, or manufacturer/distributor level in a technical (automotive preferred) environment.
- 3+ years of experience in the automotive industry preferred.
- Certifications include ASE Master Automobile Technician (A1-A8), Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1), and Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist (L3).
- Must have valid Driver’s License and maintain a responsible record that meets KUS criteria; may need to work additional hours including weekends or holidays; occasional domestic and international travel.
- Specialized skills: strong communication and training facilitation using adult learning techniques; ability to analyze vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic strategies with moderate complexity; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with distance learning platforms; ability to prioritize and complete work within schedule while supporting regional and corporate operations. Nice to Have
- Automotive Technology degree preferred.
- Experience with manufacturer/distributor training programs. Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $77,105.26 - $100,227 per year.
