Service Engineer (1-Year Fixed-Term Contract)

Position: Service Engineer Location: Oyu Tolgoi Work schedule: 14 days on / 14 days off roster (site-based position).

About the Role

The Service Engineer plays a critical role within the Customer Center, focusing on installation, maintenance, and commissioning of advanced safety and automation systems in the mining industry. This position offers hands-on involvement with cutting-edge underground mining vehicle technology, specifically working with collision avoidance systems (CAS) designed to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform safe and accurate installation of aftermarket hardware and systems, adhering strictly to OEM specifications and site electrical standards.
  • Conduct wiring, including running conduit and making low voltage electrical connections, ensuring all work meets company and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot low voltage systems using dedicated tools, software, wiring schematics, and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Assist senior engineers during the installation and commissioning phases of collision avoidance and fleet management systems, contributing to project success and operational readiness.
  • Collaborate effectively with technology system support teams to identify system improvements and address technical challenges.
  • Ensure that all equipment following maintenance or installation is thoroughly tested, signed off, and ready for return to service without delay.
  • Respond to breakdown calls when required, demonstrating flexibility and reliability in support of mining operations.

Required Competencies and Experience:

  • Industrial or vendor certification on relevant technologies, products, and systems.
  • Strong electrical background with practical experience in service roles within the mining industry or heavy industrial equipment sectors.
  • Familiarity with automation and fleet management products used in mining environments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office at an intermediate level (level 2) for reporting and communication tasks.
  • Proficiency in English is considered a plus to facilitate cooperation with international teams and documentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse groups, ensuring smooth coordination and safety compliance.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
