About the Role The System Administrator/Server Operation Engineer II is responsible for facilitating operational support for the assigned team that maintains large-scale systems used in building management and physical security. The role involves systems administration, networking, and ticket-based work to resolve issues.
What You'll Do
- Create DC layouts and plan server installations and rack mountings.
- Develop and implement capacity management strategies for large-scale data centers to optimize resource utilization.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Program Management, Operations, and Data Center Development to gather server requirements and ensure space, power, and rack capacity.
- Plan and execute server delivery projects, including operating system installations.
- Work with a team in a fast-paced environment and support early data center design with sustainable solutions.
- Apply server energy efficiency and scalability best practices within the data center industry.
- Install operating systems for new mounted servers.
- Reinstall server operating systems and resolve abnormalities.
- Perform daily server maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and break-fix for servers and hardware.
- Maintain data in internal systems including asset management, ticketing, and rack data.
- Coordinate with remote vendors or other teams to address hardware batch failures.
- Be on-call to address issues raised by business stakeholders.
- Collect and verify online asset status and issues.
- Erase drives or configurations for retiring or relocating servers.
- Retrofit tools by updating or writing scripts.
- Submit and track part RMA or media destruction processes.
- Conduct server network troubleshooting and lifecycle management.
- Perform other server operation related work.
