About the Role
Airwallex is hiring for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer on the Embedded Finance Platform. You’ll build and maintain multi-tenant infrastructure powering enterprise customers, architect scalable systems, and influence how businesses embed finance.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain the multi-tenant infrastructure powering platform customers with enterprise-grade SLAs for availability, latency, and throughput
- Architect systems and design integrations for cross-domain features (tax systems, compliance-driven flows, monetization tools)
- Own Solutions Architecture by translating enterprise requirements into technical solutions and influencing deal outcomes
- Collaborate across Product, Design, Compliance, and Sales to drive scale, maintainability, and production excellence
- Grow beyond engineering by understanding customer business models and regulatory landscapes, preparing you for technical leadership or product roles
- What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of software engineering experience (8+ for Staff) in Java/Spring Boot
- Excel at making the right level of abstraction—balancing flexibility and simplicity in system/component design
- Clean communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Pragmatic decisions on when to optimize for performance vs. velocity based on business impact
- Thrive in cross-functional environments spanning Product, Design, Compliance, and Sales
- Design for scale, maintainability, and production excellence
- Have led multi-team initiatives with measurable technical or business impact
- Nice to Have
- Fintech, payments, or regulated industry experience
- High-scale performance tuning (100k+ QPS, large user bases, strict latency SLAs)
- Multi-tenant SaaS or platform architecture background
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Experience with OAuth2.0, API design, or developer documentation
- Cross-region deployment or data residency compliance experience
- Solutions engineering or customer-facing technical experience
- Compensation & Benefits
- Total compensation: 190,000 to 270,000 GBP per year
- Location: London (Hybrid Mode)
