About the Role The Senior/Lead Platform Engineer will architect and build backend systems, own features end-to-end from database design to API endpoints and data pipelines, and partner with Infra/SRE to ensure reliability and scalability. You’ll play a key role in platform-level initiatives, incident response, and mentoring a high-performing NYC-based team in a hybrid setup. What You'll Do
- Architect and build backend systems with Node.js (TypeScript preferred) and a Postgres backend, owning features end-to-end from design to API endpoints and data pipelines.
- Collaborate with Solutions Architects and Product Managers to translate client needs into robust technical solutions; partner with Infra/SRE on reliability, deployment, and production health.
- Drive platform-level improvements, optimize data ingestion and third-party integrations, reduce toil, and lead blameless post-mortems after incidents.
- Mentor and grow the team, tackle ambiguous, high-impact problems, and make architectural tradeoffs that hold up in production. What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of production software engineering experience, with a track record of owning meaningful backend systems on a collaborative team.
- Deep technical depth in Node.js (TypeScript preferred) and strong data systems expertise with relational databases and analytical databases; experience optimizing query plans, indexing, and data access patterns.
- Cloud design experience in public cloud, understanding tradeoffs between managed services and custom infra, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and cost.
- Strong collaboration skills, observability mindset, and ability to operate across teams. Nice to Have
- Experience designing high-throughput data pipelines, event-driven systems, or operating services under real production load. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary ranging from $198,000 to $250,000, plus equity awards in stock options (ISOs) and a competitive total benefits package, including Unlimited PTO and flexible work policy.
