About this role
About the Role Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers has an immediate opening for a Senior Water Resources Engineer in our growing Design Engineering group. In this role, you will execute complex water resource designs for projects across North America, including design-build, progressive design-build, and CM/GC delivery. You will act as a technical expert, provide mentorship to junior and mid-level staff, and collaborate with other design centers to deliver drainage and water resources solutions for diverse projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead Stormwater Design on a variety of transportation, energy, utilities, and ports/marine projects.
- Guide and mentor teams responsible for civil design-build assignments, including drainage design, water quality, detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (various models/methods), erosion and sediment control, and preparation of design plans, reports, and technical memoranda.
- Lead design areas such as hydraulics, pavement drainage, culverts, storm systems, scour/revetment design (supporting bridge design), sediment transport, and stream restoration/embankment stabilization.
- Execute and lead plan production, specifications, estimates, and drainage design development; may serve as Engineer of Record for final design projects.
- Guide interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure drainage elements are compatible.
- Develop project communications on design/analysis status, lead technical meetings, and coordinate to resolve design issues.
- Provide oversight and direction to the design team, including mentoring of mid-level and junior staff.
- Lead a team of seasoned professionals, promoting staff development through training, mentoring, and career planning.
- Oversee/create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for drainage designs and conduct quality control reviews.
- Travel for project offices/work sites up to 25% and operate in a hybrid office/field environment based on location and experience.
