About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior VFX Artist to lead the creation of visually stunning and immersive game VFX. As a core member of the VFX team, you will apply technical and creative expertise to bring gameplay to life, maintaining a high standard of visual quality across prototypes and final implementations.

What You'll Do

  • Work with and guide the VFX team to block out, create, implement and optimise complex and dynamic visual effects, including gameplay-driven, ambient and cinematic content – ensuring seamless integration from prototype to final implementation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Art, Design and Creative Leads to establish and uphold the quality bar of the game’s effects, ensuring a consistent and cohesive visual identity.
  • Help manage the day-to-day progress of VFX development, supporting your team with project-specific processes and problem-solving.
  • Build upon and champion best pipeline practices for VFX creation, optimization, and performance, ensuring content meets visual quality standards and works smoothly across target platforms.
  • Work with the Production team to support the planning and delivery of VFX content.
  • Lead by example, keeping an enthusiastic attitude for the project whilst motivating and supporting a diverse team.
  • Participate in staff interviews, onboarding, mentorship programs and performance reviews, fostering skill development and artistic growth.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and VFX pipeline to continually push the boundaries of game effects and contribute fresh ideas to the team.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions and feedback on game design and artistic requirements.
  • What We're Looking For
  • Professional experience in a Senior VFX role for games, with a strong portfolio demonstrating excellent understanding of VFX pipeline and quality that demonstrates your ability to create a variety of modern, high quality real-time content for games within an established style.
  • High level of understanding of game VFX creation for Unreal Engine, including Niagara, and the ability to create advanced materials, post process effects and lighting if required.
  • High proficiency in creating original content for game effects, such as textures, 3D assets and simulations using external toolsets such as Blender, Substance, Photoshop as required.
  • A creative eye and care for art direction in your own work and the work of your team.
  • Excellent understanding of VFX fundamentals such as timing, shape language, weight and motion.
  • Strong support-focused interpersonal skills, able to communicate, collaborate and mentor effectively.
  • Able to manage your time effectively, delegating and prioritising based on project need.
  • A passion for gaming and a commitment to delivering visually stunning and captivating gaming experiences.
  • Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with tools such as Embergen, Illugen and Houdini.
  • Shipped at least one title in a Senior position, within a relevant game art production pipeline.
  • Skills in any adjacent areas such as Lighting, Animation, Concept Art, Blueprint etc.
