About the Role Senior UW Assistant is an individual contributor within the Underwriting Support Unit of the product field operations. This role handles the most complex accounts and provides technical guidance to junior staff, supporting end-to-end processing of new and renewal business under moderate supervision.
What You'll Do
- Partner with regional underwriters and more senior UW Support to process new and renewal business end-to-end.
- Evaluate new and renewal submissions for completeness; document outstanding items and communicate with an underwriter for review; assist in broker follow-up.
- Work with underwriters and CoE partners to develop tailored solutions; identify and resolve account alerts/blocks during submission; forward lines of business to Shared Services for rating as instructed.
- Train on and demonstrate proficiency in underwriting systems; perform data analytics, remodeling, and preparation of referrals, checklists, and working approvals.
- Review location data and CAT modeling results; analyze loss information and financial statements to facilitate quote development; pre-populate loss rating models.
- Assist with the issuance of quotes, binders, policies, endorsements, and cancellations within prescribed timelines; request individual policy filings as needed.
- Prepare policy writing instructions for Shared Services and premium billing; manage bureau crits and follow up with brokers on outstanding information.
- Prepare documents for reinsurance quotes; conduct post-issuance policy review and document discrepancies for review with Sr. UA, Team Lead, or account underwriter; forward discrepancies to Shared Services for correction.
- Assist underwriters with broker follow-ups on outstanding subjectivities (e.g., Legal Agreements, Collateral, Premium, UM/UIM-PIP forms); update systems as required.
- Track premium booking and policy issuance to ensure LOB metrics are met; escalate as needed; communicate account status to management.
- Maintain accurate and updated files; attend broker/client meetings as requested; consistently meet service level agreements and quality metrics.
What We're Looking For
- 1-3 years of related insurance experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to prioritize and switch between multiple proprietary, vendor, web-based, and standard computer systems.
- Microsoft Office proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Learning agility; client servicing; problem solving; attention to detail.
