Job title: Senior Underwriter - IPMI
About the Role Senior Underwriter IPMI for Expats at Sompo International Holdings Ltd. will join the German A&H team and, based in Cologne, Hamburg or Munich, build a new IPMI portfolio for expatriates. In this sales-oriented role, you will underwrite new business under the applicable authorities and contribute to portfolio development and IPMI product enhancements.
What You'll Do
- Build an IPMI portfolio for a newly developed IPMI product and interact with clients and brokers.
- Develop and expand close, personal relationships with clients and brokers to grow the IPMI portfolio.
- Independently underwrite international health insurance risks (group) within given authorities.
- Risk assessment, pricing and quotation including analysis of performance data.
- Negotiate contracts; participate in client meetings and present to clients and brokers during renewals.
- Support development, introduction and modification of new products/product versions, including monitoring the local market.
- Proactive and individualized sales activities with brokers and clients, attend IPMI events.
- Close collaboration with Claims, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Actuarial, Medical Underwriting and Customer Service.
What We're Looking For
- Several years of experience in the insurance industry, at least 5 years in IPMI.
- Experience managing a profitable A&H portfolio.
- In-depth knowledge of IPMI markets, regulations and products.
- Comprehensive product knowledge and underwriting experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with stakeholders to achieve goals.
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
- Independent, reliable work style with willingness to collaborate in a team.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel.
- German and English; additional languages are a plus.

- Additional languages beyond German and English are a plus.
