Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage manufacturing operations across multiple value streams, production cells, and shifts to achieve safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost objectives.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently, and customer commitments are met while maintaining operational flexibility and resource optimization.
  • Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, investigate production delays, and coordinate corrective actions to maximize productivity and throughput.
  • Partner with Planning to ensure adequate staffing, resource allocation, and long-term capacity planning to support current and future business needs.
  • Maintain appropriate safety stock levels while optimizing production capacity and inventory utilization.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to resolve operational challenges.
  • Recommend equipment, tooling, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, safety, quality, and business performance.
  • Lead and support production transfers, equipment qualifications, process validations, and new product introductions.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, OSHA, company policies, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor product quality performance and work closely with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve quality issues.
  • Review, approve, and support quality system documentation, including Engineering Changes Nonconforming Material Reports (NCMRs), CAPAs, Variances, OALs, and related documents.
  • Evaluate rejected material, investigate scrap trends, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce waste and improve yields.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality enhancement, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
  • Establish performance metrics and utilize operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and mentor Manufacturing Supervisors, Cell Leaders, and production teams to achieve operational excellence.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, employee engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement employee training programs, qualification processes, and skill-development plans.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and feedback, and create development plans for employees and emerging leaders.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, recruiting, onboarding, and retention initiatives.
  • Manage employee relations matters in partnership with Human Resources and ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive work environment aligned with company values while promoting open communication and employee recognition.
  • Collaborate closely with Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing to support business objectives and customer expectations.
  • Respond to customer issues and complaints as necessary and support the resolution of quality, delivery, and service-related concerns.
  • Work with buyer/planners and suppliers to ensure adequate material supply and proactively address shortages and supply chain risks.
  • Manage labor utilization, manufacturing costs, and departmental performance to support company profitability goals.
  • Lead cost improvement initiatives and establish programs that improve operational effectiveness and business results.
  • Develop, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, inventory, and cost.
  • Participate in budget development and manage department spending within approved financial targets.
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety throughout all manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure employees comply with safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead investigations of safety incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Drive proactive safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts that reduce workplace risks.
  • Perform other duties, projects, and assignments as directed by management to support organizational goals and operational success.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, capacity management, inventory control, and workforce optimization.
  • Thorough understanding of FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, and safety requirements within a regulated manufacturing environment; medical device, pharmaceutical, or aseptic manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing supervisors and production teams, with a demonstrated ability to develop talent, build engagement, and drive accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies, with a track record of cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Knowledge of equipment qualification, process validation, change control, production transfers, and new product introductions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to leverage data to improve operational performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and data reporting tools.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives while driving operational excellence and a continuous improvement culture.

Experience

  • +5 years’ experience managing a manufacturing environment that is both labor and machine intensive including leading a considerable amount of employees

Education

  • Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering, Material or related field

  • Master’s degree is a plus
