Senior Substation Physical Engineer

About the Role Senior Substation Physical Engineer to join Leidos' Power Delivery Services Team. You will work on substation physical design projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV, collaborating with engineers, designers, and CAD technicians to implement client standards while meeting scope, schedule, and budget. What You'll Do

• Execute substation physical design projects and perform quality control checks.
• Read and design substation physical drawings such as one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, plan-section drawings, foundation and grounding drawings.
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation physical designs.
• Attend site visits at customer locations and coordinate with clients and internal teams.
• Apply knowledge of digital logic design, AC/DC circuits to inform substation designs.
• Ensure compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget; collaborate with the design team (engineers, designers, CAD technicians).
• Travel to project sites as needed. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 4+ years of related substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection and lighting studies.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal teams and clients to meet project needs and deadlines.
• Strong collaborative and leadership potential; ability to work effectively in a team and independently; strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
• High level of computer competency; willingness to travel to project/client sites.
• Engineer Intern (EIT) / Professional Engineer (PE) and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are a plus. Nice to Have
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification or PE license.
• Working knowledge of protection and control design.
• Experience with bus calculations.
• Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS.
