Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager

Location: China

A global manufacturer operating within a regulated industry is seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead sourcing strategy and supplier management for plastic components across China. This role combines technical expertise, supplier development, commercial negotiations, and supply chain leadership to support a growing product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for injection moulded, extruded, and plastic component categories.
• Identify, qualify, and manage supplier relationships across plastics manufacturing, tooling, and raw materials.
• Lead RFQ processes, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Manage tooling assets, supplier transitions, production readiness, and capacity planning.
• Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to support NPI projects, manufacturing improvements, and supplier performance.
• Drive supplier audits, risk mitigation plans, dual-sourcing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor supplier KPIs relating to quality, delivery, capacity, and cost performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline.

• 8+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing, category management, procurement, or supplier management within plastics manufacturing environments.

• Strong technical understanding of injection moulding, extrusion, tooling, polymers, and manufacturing processes.

• Proven experience leading supplier negotiations, RFQs, cost analysis, and contract management.

• Familiarity with quality and manufacturing methodologies including PPAP, FAI, CAPA, Cpk, and supplier audits.

• Fluent Mandarin and English language skills.

• Willingness to travel regularly across China.

• Ideal Background Suitable candidates may come from medical devices, diagnostics, life sciences, electronics, automotive, industrial manufacturing, or other regulated production environments. Experience managing plastics suppliers, tooling programs, and strategic sourcing initiatives within a complex global supply chain will be highly advantageous.
