About the Role As a Senior Storage Engineer within Microsoft Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE), you will help design, build, and operate storage infrastructure that underpins Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud. You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software teams to deliver scalable, reliable storage solutions for the company’s cloud services. What You'll Do
- Architect, implement, and maintain storage subsystem designs for data centers and silicon storage platforms.
- Collaborate with silicon, firmware, and software teams to integrate storage technologies into Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.
- Analyze performance, power, and reliability, and drive improvements across capacity planning, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
- Develop, validate, and maintain test plans and production-grade storage software/firmware.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to incident response and post-mortems. What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of storage engineering experience in data-center or hardware environments.
- Deep expertise with storage protocols (NVMe, SATA/SAS), storage arrays, firmware development, validation, and debugging.
- Experience with datacenter power and thermal management, reliability, and platform integration.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills; ability to work across cross-functional teams.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). Nice to Have
- Experience with silicon-level storage controllers and firmware development.
- Familiarity with cloud-scale infrastructure and Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Knowledge of scripting (Python, PowerShell) and operating systems in test/production environments.
