Company Overview
Intuit is the global financial technology platform that powers prosperity for the people and communities we serve. With tens of millions of customers worldwide using products such as TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prosper. We never stop working to find new, innovative ways to make that possible.
Job Overview
The Intuit FLP (Finance, Legal, and Privacy) Tech team builds Intuit's core capabilities across enterprise finance, legal, and privacy applications. Within FLP Tech, the Finance Data & Analytics team is the trusted source of truth for how Intuit's Finance organization sees its own business — from month-end close and SOX-certified financial reporting to workforce, revenue, and expense analytics used across the company.
Finance data at Intuit is in the midst of a rapid shift toward AI-assisted and agentic approaches to financial reporting, controls testing, and business intelligence. We are hiring a Staff Technical Data Analyst to help lead this shift.
This is not a report-writing role. You will own report and dashboard architecture and strategy across a large, SOX-sensitive portfolio spanning Revenue, Expense, Workforce, and Compliance reporting, partnering directly with Finance, SOX/Internal Audit, and Data Engineering to make sure that portfolio is accurate, governed, and audit-ready — while also pushing it forward: consolidating redundant reporting, modernizing the underlying data architecture, and identifying where GenAI and agentic tooling can remove manual effort from financial control work rather than just producing more dashboards.
You are accountable for the outcome, not just the artifact. If a report is technically correct but doesn't survive an audit walkthrough, or a dashboard ships but nobody adopts it, that is your problem to solve.
Responsibilities
-
Report & Dashboard Portfolio Ownership: Own the architecture, roadmap, and health of a large-scale reporting portfolio (SOX and non-SOX) spanning multiple Finance domains. Maintain a single, authoritative view of what exists, who owns it, and where consolidation or retirement opportunities exist, and drive that consolidation rather than letting the portfolio grow indefinitely.
-
SOX Control Design & Compliance Reporting: Design and maintain the data validation and control frameworks that keep SOX-certified financial reporting accurate, traceable, and audit-ready. Partner directly with Internal Audit and external auditors on control design, evidence, and walkthroughs, and build the automated validation and lineage tooling that lets the business scale compliance without scaling headcount.
-
Data Architecture & Migration: Lead the technical design and execution of large-scale data migrations, including legacy BI platform to governed cloud data lake/warehouse migrations, catalog and access-control modernization, and the report-logic migrations that follow. Ensure every migration preserves data lineage, auditability, and business continuity.
-
Data Discovery for New Engagements: Partner with product managers, data engineers, and AI/data scientists at the start of new product and AI initiatives to explore, analyze, and profile the underlying data first, understanding what data exists, its quality, and any gaps, before it's used to build models, products, or pipelines.
-
Data Asset Management & Governance: Manage financial and business data as a governed asset across its lifecycle: data quality monitoring, access governance, metadata and lineage, and alignment with Intuit's data compliance standards. Prepare and maintain clean, well-documented data for both traditional BI consumption and AI/ML pipelines.
-
AI-Driven Innovation in Finance Reporting: Identify and pilot where GenAI and agentic approaches can modernize SOX testing, financial reporting, and BI: automated control testing and anomaly detection, natural-language and narrative-driven reporting, AI-assisted data quality and lineage tooling, and prompt-to-SQL or self-service analytics for business users. Bring a critical eye for where AI creates real leverage in a regulated environment and where human review and audit trails remain non-negotiable.
-
Stakeholder Partnership & Influence: Act as the primary technical partner to Finance business stakeholders (FP&A, Accounting, Revenue, Workforce Planning) and cross-functional technology teams, translating ambiguous business needs into clear technical requirements and data-driven recommendations, and translating technical constraints back into terms Finance leadership can act on.
-
Technical Delivery & Craft Leadership: Design, build, and maintain BI solutions end to end using tools such as Qlik, Databricks, Tableau, SQL, and Python, from data exploration and modeling through visualization and automated pipeline delivery. As a Staff-level individual contributor, set the craft standard for technical solution design, data quality, and documentation across the team, mentoring analysts and contingent workers and reviewing their work.
Qualifications
-
10+ years of industry experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or technical reporting supporting Finance, Accounting, SOX/regulatory compliance, or another tightly controlled business function.
-
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Finance/Accounting, or equivalent practical experience
Data & Analytics Craft Qualifications:
- Proven strong SQL and data modeling skills, with working proficiency in Python for data pipelines, automation, or analysis.
- Proven experience building and maintaining BI solutions and dashboards end-to-end, from data exploration and architecture through visualization and delivery, using tools such as Qlik(Sense), Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Proven experience with cloud data platforms and lakehouse architectures (e.g., AWS, Databricks, Glue/Lake Formation, Snowflake), including migrations between platforms.
- Proven experience defining data quality frameworks, lineage documentation, and access governance for data used in regulated reporting.
Finance & SOX Domain Expertise:
- Direct experience supporting SOX-certified financial reporting or a comparable regulated-controls environment: control design, evidence gathering, audit walkthroughs, and change management for report-logic changes.
- Familiarity with core Finance data domains such as revenue recognition, expense/GL data, workforce/headcount reporting, month-end close, or FP&A reporting cycles.
- Experience partnering with Internal Audit, external auditors, or SOX/GRC teams on control testing and documentation.
AI Fluency & Innovation Qualifications:
- Active, critical user of GenAI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) in your own analytics work, such as query generation, documentation, data profiling, or narrative reporting.
- A point of view on where agentic AI and automation can responsibly modernize financial reporting and controls testing, and where human review and auditability must remain non-negotiable.
- Curiosity about emerging AI-native BI and data-quality tooling, with a track record of piloting new tools and technologies rather than waiting for them to be handed down.
Sr Staff-Level Craft Qualifications:
-
Strategic Thinking & Solution Design: turns ambiguous business problems into a clear technical roadmap, and identifies roadblocks before they become blockers.
-
Technical Depth: deep, hands-on fluency across the reporting/BI stack; equally comfortable in an architecture conversation or writing (and reviewing) the SQL.
-
Ownership & Accountability: owns outcomes end-to-end, including production issues and audit findings, not just the deliverable that was originally scoped.
-
Influence Without Authority: bridges Finance, Audit, Engineering, and Data Governance stakeholders and drives alignment even where nothing formally reports to you.
-
Mentorship: raises the bar for the team through technical reviews, coaching analysts and contingent workers, and contributing to hiring and calibration.
-
