About the Role Databricks is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Materialized Views engineering effort within the Lakeflow team. You will design and implement next-generation materialized view features for ETL workloads and query acceleration, building scalable, fault-tolerant data infrastructure at exabyte-scale. You will influence product roadmaps, drive complex technical projects, and collaborate across teams to improve automation and operability of services.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement next-generation materialized view features for ETL workloads and query acceleration.
- Build scalable, available, and fault-tolerant materialized view architectures; perform low-level debugging and performance optimization on large production clusters.
- Plan and lead complex technical projects spanning multiple teams; influence product roadmap; own new initiatives.
- Introduce tools to automate and improve operability of services and help prevent and investigate production issues.
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
- Passion for database systems, storage systems, distributed systems, language design, or performance optimization.
- Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world use cases.
- Experience driving company initiatives toward customer satisfaction.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work with a multi-year vision and incremental deliverables.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $235,000—$295,000 USD per year.
