About the Role Databricks is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Delta DML backend team. You will design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems powering Databricks workspaces, building the next-generation platform for serving workspace assets with high QPS and low latency, while proactively addressing growth. As a senior member, you will provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers to raise the team's coding practices and system designs.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems powering Databricks workspaces, ensuring high QPS, low latency, reliability, and performance.
• Build architecture design, influence product roadmap, and take ownership of new projects.
• Introduce tools for automation and operability; help prevent and investigate production issues; optimize performance on large production clusters.
• Plan and lead complicated technical projects across multiple teams; contribute as a technical team lead by mentoring others, leading sprint planning, and delegating tasks.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure scalable, maintainable solutions and future growth readiness.

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
• Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.
• Motivated by delivering customer value and impact.
• Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world use cases.
• Experience driving company initiatives towards customer satisfaction.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
