About the Role
Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Delta DML backend team. You will design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems powering Databricks workspaces, building the next-generation platform for serving workspace assets with high QPS, low latency, and strong reliability. As a senior member, you will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers, contributing to improved coding practices and system designs.
What You'll Do
- Solve real business needs at scale by applying your software engineering expertise.
- Perform low-level systems debugging, performance measurement, and optimization on large production clusters.
- Design architecture, influence product roadmaps, and own new projects.
- Introduce tooling to automate and operabilize services.
- Use deep experience to help prevent and investigate production issues.
- Plan and lead complicated technical projects that involve several teams; mentor others, lead sprint planning, delegate work, and participate in project planning.
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years of industry experience building and supporting large-scale distributed systems.
- Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision with incremental deliverables.
- Motivated by delivering customer value and impact.
- Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures and their real-world use cases.
- Experience driving company initiatives towards customer satisfaction.
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
