About the Role The AHEAD Senior Specialty Solutions Engineer-Network will focus on the core tenets of Network and Network Security solutions for AHEAD prospects and customers, and will be a thought leader in this marketplace. Pre-sales experience is essential, and you will partner with multiple sales reps to build cohesive account strategies, identify technologies and vendors, and drive strategy across campaigns. A core requirement is deep understanding of campus wired and wireless technologies, with knowledge of datacenter and cloud networking as a plus. You should be eager to demonstrate skills across multiple SDN solutions, network security, load balancing, edge/acceleration, and cloud technologies, including AWS and Azure. This role represents a blend of strategic guidance, hands-on sizing/configuration, and relationship-building to scale effectiveness within accounts.
What You'll Do
- Participation, leadership and coordination of the AHEAD virtual team for Network Infrastructure
- Work with the AHEAD partner management team and directly with selected vendors to maintain vendor technical and sales relationships
- Design, architect, and, at times, consult for Ahead clients as a Network Specialist
- Build skills, relationships and industry credibility across many segments to drive product, services and consulting sales
- Support the sales teams during engagements by providing advice and solutions or proposals optimized to meet customer technical and business requirements
- Develop relationships with account managers, partners and customers in support of sales team objectives and engage team specialist resources as appropriate
- Strategize and execute technical sales calls
- Complete required pre-sales documentation (configurations, pricing, services, presentations, justifications, etc.) quickly and accurately
- Qualify sales opportunities in terms of customer technical requirements, decision making process and funding
- Present and market the design and value of proposed Ahead solutions and business justification to customers, prospects and Ahead management
- Participate in mentorship of entry-level team members
- Possess strong, detailed product / technology / industry knowledge
What We're Looking For
- Deep understanding of campus wired and wireless technologies; willingness to expand into datacenter and cloud networking areas
- Experience or eagerness to learn multiple SDN solutions, network security, load balancing, edge/acceleration, and cloud technologies
- Experience or eagerness to work with network and system/access design using AWS, Microsoft Azure or other cloud services
- Pre-sales experience and ability to size, configure, document, and present proposals
- Strong communication, leadership and relationship-building skills with account managers, partners and customers
- Ability to strategize and execute technical sales calls, and to document configurations, pricing, services and justifications
- Highly motivated to grow into a technical thought leader for each client
- Strong, detailed product/technology/industry knowledge
Nice to Have
- Datacenter and cloud networking experience is a plus
- Experience with multiple SDN solutions and diverse network technologies beyond campus networks
- Prior vendor management or alliance experience
- Comfort with balancing on-prem and cloud-based networking solutions
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $245,000 - $275,000 per year (OTE included)
