About the Role L3Harris is seeking a Senior Specialist in Software Engineering for our Waco, TX team. You will design, develop, and maintain software solutions that are critical to our operations and customer satisfaction, with a focus on Linux security and DoD compliance. What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications aligned with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate across teams to integrate new features and improve performance.
- Conduct code reviews, write unit tests, and document implementations to ensure quality.
- Troubleshoot issues and optimize system performance.
- Apply Linux cybersecurity practices (SELinux, DAC, auditing, fapolicyd, iptables, systemd services including seccomp).
- Utilize automation tools (SCAP Compliance Checker, STIG) to ensure compliance with DoD security standards.
- Participate in planning, timelines, and design reviews. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related field; or graduate degree; or 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree; with 6+ years (bachelor) or 4+ years (graduate).
- Demonstrated software development experience in the DoD industry.
- Understanding of software development principles and design patterns.
- Proficiency in languages such as C++ and Python; familiarity with the full SDLC.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Ability to travel domestically and/or work extended hours as needed. Nice to Have
- Windows and UNIX platforms (CentOS/ROCKY/RHEL 8).
- Git, GitLab/Bitbucket, Jira.
- Secure coding practices (Fortify).
- CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub).
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Compensation & Benefits
- Sign-on bonus between $15,000 and $25,000.
