Senior Specialist, Project Controls

About the Role Reporting to the Project Controls Director, the Senior Specialist, Project Controls will provide project controls support to Aecon's mega-projects in the Nuclear sector. This role requires U.S. citizenship to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements. What You'll Do

• Complete all roles & responsibilities expected of a Project Controls Specialist
• Assist in developing, establishing, and maintaining the project's cost management systems
• Participate in customer and internal management project status reporting meetings
• Provide mentorship & guidance to junior team members
• Provide subject-matter expertise to project team on any customized reporting tools & dashboards
• Assist in monitoring project health & performance; ensure key performance metrics are well articulated to project leadership
• Regularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project leadership on adverse trends
• Support the implementation of an Earned Value Management plan to measure project performance, identify variances, and inform accurate forecasting
• Support the development of project-specific Project Controls plans, and the development of tools & templates
• Assist with the development & implementation of a project-specific change management plan, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon's standards
• Regularly conduct detailed analysis on project performance key metrics (e.g. CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking, etc.); propose corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity; provide timely feedback to project leadership on adverse trends
• Regularly conduct detailed labor rate analysis to gauge impact of economic factors & actualize cost multiplier assumptions; update forecasts accordingly
• Assist in the creation & maintenance of tools & templates that ensure compliance with the processes outlined Project Controls plan & contract requirements
• Develop fragnets to be carried out throughout the project lifecycle, across the different phases for use on similar scopes
• Lead meetings focused on assessing schedule progress, obtaining schedule updates & general schedule coordination
• Review the contract to ensure compliance with contract conditions regarding reporting, change management What We're Looking For
• Experience providing project controls support on large-scale or nuclear sector projects
• Ability to develop and maintain cost management systems and reports
• Proficiency with Earned Value Management, CPI/SPI metrics, and forecasting
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances and propose corrective actions
• Mentorship and leadership capabilities to guide junior team members
• Experience developing tools, templates, and dashboards for project controls
• Knowledge of change management and contract compliance processes
• Ability to perform labor rate analysis and forecast cost multipliers
• Schedule coordination, status reporting, and leadership of schedule meetings
