Jobsite911 is an early-stage, funded startup that connects construction teams with local suppliers to deliver the materials they need directly to the jobsite, minimizing downtime and keeping projects moving.
About the Role
We're seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to architect and build Jobsite911's platform across web, iOS, and Android, supporting multiple user types and interfaces.
You'll own system architecture, cloud infrastructure, backend development, databases, data sourcing, API integrations, authentication, user provisioning, and deployment. Working alongside our frontend developer and product team, you'll build secure, scalable systems and contribute to mobile development as needed.
This role offers significant technical ownership, from initial architecture through production. On-call responsibilities are not currently required but may be introduced as the platform enters production.
Key Responsibilities

System Architecture & Infrastructure

Design and implement scalable system architecture across backend services, databases, cloud infrastructure, and client applications

Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, frameworks, and infrastructure services

Establish cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, monitoring, and logging
-
Design systems for security, reliability, performance, and maintainability
-
Manage infrastructure and technical operations as the platform scales

Support mobile application builds, deployment, and App Store / Google Play releases

Backend Development & Data Management
-
Architect, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and business logic supporting complex workflows across web, iOS, and Android

Design and manage databases, data models, and storage solutions

Build data pipelines for sourcing, ingesting, and processing internal and external data
-
Integrate third-party APIs and services
-
Implement notifications, background processing, and real-time functionality as needed
-
Ensure data integrity, availability, and backend performance

Authentication, Authorization & User Management
-
Design and implement secure authentication and user provisioning
-
Develop role-based access controls for different user types and organizations
-
Support multi-tenant architecture and secure data isolation
-
Build account management, onboarding, and permissioning systems
-
Implement appropriate application security and data protection practices

Technical Ownership & Collaboration
-
Own backend architecture, infrastructure, and key technical implementation decisions
-
Collaborate with product, design, and frontend engineering to translate requirements into technical solutions

Collaborate with the frontend developer to integrate APIs and implement application workflows
-
Define engineering standards for code quality, testing, documentation, and security
-
Identify technical risks and recommend practical solutions
-
Plan and execute development milestones independently

Establish engineering practices that support future team growth

Required Qualifications
-
7+ years in software engineering, with a focus on backend development and system architecture
-
Demonstrated expertise in architecting, developing, and deploying complex production applications
-
Strong proficiency in backend development, API design, database architecture, and system integration
-
Expertise in cloud infrastructure, including AWS, GCP, or Azure
-
Proficiency in relational databases, data modeling, and performance optimization
-
Ability to source, process, and integrate data from external APIs and third-party services
-
Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, user provisioning, and multi-tenant systems
-
Familiarity with web and mobile application development, including iOS and Android
-
Ability to contribute to cross-platform or native mobile development when needed
-
Proficiency with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, deployment, and production monitoring
-
Knowledge of application security best practices and scalable system design
-
Ability to work independently and make sound architectural decisions in an early-stage environment
-
Ability to work cross-functionally with frontend engineering, product, executive leadership, and business development / marketing

AI is permitted for use as an assistive tool, but candidates are expected to be able to understand and debug all code as if written by them

Nice to Have

Background as a founding engineer, technical lead, or early engineering hire

Development of B2C applications or multi-sided platforms

Native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin) development skills

Proficiency with React Native or Flutter

Familiarity with location-based services, GPS, push notifications, and real-time communication

Integration of payment processing and incentive systems

Industry knowledge of construction technology, logistics, or field services
-
Track record of scaling applications from MVP through commercial launch

Note: This position is part-time (20 hours) per week, with the opportunity to go full time if there is a good fit. We plan to move fast, so this could become an option by the end of Q4.
