About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in the continued growth and evolution of Tyler’s Priority Based Budgeting platform. This role blends hands-on software development with technical leadership to define architectural standards, guide engineering practices, and mentor developers across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Technical Leadership & Architecture: Define and establish technical standards based on architectural principles and engineering best practices; design and build scalable, maintainable, and secure software systems; collaborate with engineering leadership to develop roadmaps; represent technical perspectives in strategic planning; establish code quality standards and manage technical debt; drive adoption of emerging technologies; create and maintain technical documentation.

• Software Development: Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex software solutions; contribute hands-on code across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure; partner with product management, UX, data, and support teams to deliver customer-focused solutions; identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability; support production systems and troubleshoot complex issues.

• Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers; participate in hiring activities; foster a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence; provide technical guidance during design reviews and code reviews.

• AI Enablement & Engineering Innovation: Identify opportunities to leverage Agentic AI to improve developer productivity, streamline engineering workflows, and enhance software quality; guide teams in responsible AI adoption; evaluate and implement AI-driven solutions; establish best practices for integrating Agentic AI into the software development lifecycle; promote governance, security, data privacy, and human oversight.

• What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating expert-level programming competency and technical leadership; typically 5+ years of professional software development experience with progression into technical leadership.

• Proficiency with C#, Angular, SQL, Linux, Git, Docker, and AWS or comparable technologies; strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

• Technical expertise in modern software development, scalable distributed systems, cloud-native applications, API design, and service-oriented architectures; experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, containerization, and orchestration; strong focus on performance, caching, and security.

• Proven track record leading complex technical projects from design through production delivery and contributing to architectural direction and engineering best practices.

• Nice to Have

• Experience with Agentic AI or AI-assisted development; governance, security, data privacy knowledge; cloud-native development and AI-enabled development workflows.
