About the Role Senior Software Engineer specializing in Python programming to join our Chicago team. You will develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications on AWS and Azure, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable Fitch Ratings workflow systems. What You'll Do
- Develop, test and maintain high-quality software using Python.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems.
- Write clean, reusable, scalable code.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and integrate with delivery processes.
- Debug and troubleshoot Python-related issues.
- Stay up-to-date with Python trends and technologies.
- Participate in Agile development processes.
- Interpret complex requirements for Ratings workflow tools.
- Provide production support and establish technical best practices.
- Manage multiple projects to ensure timely delivery within scope and timelines. What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience as a Python Developer with a strong portfolio.
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering or related field.
- Deep understanding of Python stacks, ecosystems, frameworks, and automation.
- Experience with front-end development and cloud platforms (AWS and Microsoft Azure).
- Experience with Postgres, Oracle; SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency with code versioning, maintenance and deployment tools (GitHub, Bamboo, JIRA).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Nice to Have
- Experience with Django, Flask or Pyramid.
- Knowledge of DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS).
- Knowledge of data science and machine learning concepts and tools.
- Contributions to open-source Python projects or involvement in the Python community. Compensation & Benefits
- Base pay between $125,000 and $150,000 per year.
- Fitch Group’s total compensation package may include commissions, discretionary bonuses, long-term incentives, and other benefits.
